Phillip "Pop" Columbus

Phillip “Pop” Columbus of McKinney, Texas passed away on June 30, 2019 at the age of 72.  He was born on February 14, 1947 to Joe and Sue (Ramos) Columbus in Lawton, Oklahoma.  On February 26, 1977, Phil married Katherine Ann Madden in Dallas, Texas.  He worked at Texas Instruments in Richardson, Texas for 18 years.  Phil then worked for Intel in California and New Mexico for five years before for becoming a contractor for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations for 15 years.  He was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Phil is survived by his wife, Katherine Ann Columbus of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Jeanette Michelle Foster and husband, Anthony of Anna, Texas; son, Joseph James Columbus and Amy Doyle of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Megan Columbus Quillen and husband, Justin of Carlsbad, California; grandchildren, Stephanie Knoll and Glynn Hickox, Cpl. Phillip Stanley Bryce Foster, USMC and wife, Kaitlynn, Madison Doyle, Mackenzie Doyle, Laurel Katherine Quillen, and Cora Shelley Quillen; four great grandchildren; sisters, Rita Wilson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Sonja McClenny of Plano, Texas; brothers, Cris Columbus of Winnsboro, Texas  and Charles Columbus of Houston, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sue Columbus; and sister, Judith Huntington.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  Pallbearers for the service are Cpl. Phillip Stanley Bryce Foster, Dwight Brand, Dyril Bernius, and Jay Crisford.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening starting at 6:00 p.m. with rosary prayers at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
