Phil Steward, age 69, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away April 30, 2018. Phil was born October 30, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Lester and Marguerite (Taylor) Steward. He married Susie Lee on January 15, 1971, in Durant, Oklahoma. Phil proudly served in the United States Navy with the River Patrol during Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, and Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V”. Phil’s love for the outdoors included, camping with the boys, being a Scout Master for Troop 884, hunting, and being an avid golfer. His career included Sears, Owner of Steward’s Ace Hardware in San Marcos and Chemsearch.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Steward of Rowlett, Texas; sons, Bryan Steward and wife, Stacey of Lubbock, Texas and Jeff Steward and wife, Michelle of McKinney, Texas; and grandchildren, Kade Steward, Kayleigh Steward, Colby Steward, Ashlynn Steward, and Lily Steward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild, Isabella Steward, brother, Jerry Steward, and sister, Peggy Forgy.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Godley Cemetery in Godley, Texas.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
