Peter Chisholm Knickerbocker

Peter Chisholm Knickerbocker, age 91, of McKinney, Texas, passed away December 23, 2017.  Peter was born September 2, 1926, in Flushing, New York, to Patrick J. and Elicia (Carr) Knickerbocker.  He graduated from Yale University Class of 1950 and became a lifelong member of the Yale Alumni Association.  Peter proudly served in the United States Navy.  He worked for Allied Chemical, Chemstrand, Cone Mills, and lastly with New York State Department of Commerce.  Peter was also a member of the VFW for many years.  He volunteered with the American Red Cross for several years and also served as the Chairman of Northport Planning Board in the 1960’s as well as the Huntington Town Planning Board in the 1970’s.  He married Frances Martin in 1992 in Plano, Texas.

 

He is survived by his wife, Frances Knickerbocker of McKinney, Texas; sons, Peter Knickerbocker and wife, Veronica and Richard Knickerbocker; granddaughter, Emma Knickerbocker; step-children, Frances Clark of McKinney, Texas, James A. Martin of Honolulu, Hawaii, William P. Martin and wife, Dianne of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Carolyn M. Batchelor and husband, Stephen of Waterford, Michigan, and Jeanne K. Blasciuc of Ferndale, Michigan; brother, David Knickerbocker of Douglaston, New York; step-grandchildren, Robert Michael Clark, Jr., Carrie and Ed Gillen, Christen DeWitt, Ian Martin, Hanna and Sarah Batchelor, Thomas, Natalie, and Allison Martin, and Griffin and Taryn Blasciuc; and numerous great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Robert Michael Clark, step-son, Thomas E. Martin, sister, Althea Dean, and his first wife, Muriel Knickerbocker.

 

A graveside inurnment will be held at 2:15 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2018, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
