I am so sorry for your loss and I couldn't believe it when I just looked at Peter's face book page to find this out! I went to Coastal Carolina University and was in a politics class with Peter. His knowledge and interest in the course intrigued me and he remained my friend throughout the semester. He was so sweet and kind and I will always be thinking of him! Lauren Eichinger, March 2, 2010 Dear Nick, Fran and Claire, We were so sorry to hear of the sad news of Peter he was so full of life and achieved so much after the accident and loss of Hannah. His uncle Rod would have been so proud of him and would have liked to see him growing into a young man and I'm sure he is now watching over them both. I have a lot of lovely memories to remind me of the times we all spent together when the children were young here and with you over there. I'm so happy to be part of your wonderful family and very touched to read all the messages about Peter and the effect his life made on so many people. Our love and thoughts are with you all, Joy and Chris x Joy and Chris Ayres, February 26, 2010 Peter was, without doubt, one of the most special individuals I ever had the priviledge to meet. Though I never saw him often we kept in touch a little and I was deeply sorry to hear the news. My thoughts are with Fran, Nick and Claire as well as the rest of the family. He will be sorely missed. I will continue to smile whenever I think of him... All my love, Beccy Rebecca (Beccy) Allen, February 24, 2010 Dear Fran, Nick & Claire I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about Peter, my thoughts and love are with you all love Elaine, Stephen, Luke & Sophie xxx Elaine Alford, February 19, 2010 To Fran, Nick and Claire, I am thinking of you all at this terrible time and I hope you will be comforted a little by all the wonderful memories you have and the fact that Peter was loved by and an inspiration to so many people that came into his life. My memories of Peter are as a baby and a little boy with Hannah and Claire back in Melton Mowbray, Yorkshire and on the beach at St Andrews. I know my Dad was extremely fond of Peter and proud to have him as his nephew and i'd like to think he will be there to look after him now as well as Hannah of course. With love to you all, Gill x Gillian Giles (Alford), February 19, 2010 Peter was an extremely witty and intelligent man who had his strong opinions but also had a lighter side. I will always remember his sense of humour and courageous spirit! I got to know Peter later on in all our lives, but hit it off well with him and continued to stay in touch with him via the internet and at family get togethers with his sister Clare. I am proud to have had Peter as my cousin and my friend and I will always remember him and his 'dirty' laugh...although I wont miss the smelly cigars!! Stu x Stuart Richard Alford, February 18, 2010 None of us will ever forget Peter. He was a true example of living life to the full, whatever your situation. Though of course, in this he was lucky to have such a loving family who did so much to help him live that life. It was great to see Peter on his trips to Europe, and we're especially glad he and you were there to celebrate our big day in 2004. But also great to be able to keep in touch with Peter, and get to know him better, through the internet, despite the distance. He was a warm, funny, sharp guy. We'll all miss you, Pete. Love from Dave, Jo, Jess and Alex. Dave, Jo, Jess & Alex Alford, February 14, 2010 Dear Fran, Nick, and Claire, You have been in our thoughts constantly since receiving the news about Peter. Love Karen xxx Karen Grossi, February 9, 2010 I always looked forward to seeing Peter walk into my social studies class at Gettysburg High School. His energy and sense of humor were infectious. His zeal for politics and history were only eclipsed by his optimism towards life. After Peter graduated from high school, I'd often run into him at Gettysburg College's union building where we'd talk about his studies and the current events of the day. A chance encounter with Peter could always be counted as the brightest smile of my day. I'm very sorry for your loss but I am also very fortunate to have known him. God bless. Bryan M. Willard, February 9, 2010 I was a fellow student with Peter in a Government class at Collin College last semester. I had a great time listening to Peter's input during the class. He would always greet me by name, even if I walked into class late, and he would have a a great big smile filling his face. Peter was a wonderful person and I will surely miss seeing him walking through the halls talking to everyone he knows. God Bless! With Deepest Sympathy Jacqui Fischette Jacqueline Fischette, February 9, 2010 Peter was a much loved member of the family, even though we did not get to meet very often. We will both miss his wicked sense of humour and shsrp wit. I will no longer hear him say 'hey oldie, what are you doing', and being referred to as the ancient Mariner. I did get my own back once by suggesting that I thought a certain female politician from Alaska would make a fine U.S. President. Peter was not too amused by this!!! Carol Leedy, February 8, 2010 Nick and Fran: I cannot understand your grief at this time of loss and the trial you have endured over time. I can only offer my condolences and best wishes. As I remember Peter's life this quote from Gilda Radner came to mind: "I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it." Fred Fred Cherne, February 8, 2010 Valerie and I were very sorry to hear that Peter had been taken last week. We will get chance to talk later, no doubt. James still talks of the time he and Peter were in Hooters and Peter tapped a nice waitress on the behind! Thinking of you tomorrow. Our thoughts and Prayers are with you, sincerely Larry and Sharon Mastrangelo,Williamson Plant Larry and Sharon Mastrangelo, February 8, 2010 Your wonderful son was such an inspiration to me. We met on several occasions - as we were neighbors in the same building. Our last meeting was very special - I learned that Peter had spent a summer at American University in Washington D.C. - my hometown - and that he spoke Spanish - my second language. He spoke it so well and was so excited about traveling to Spain tp participate in an upcoming Spanish language summer program. Your son was a special young man and I will always remember him with admiration and affection. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time but, if it's small comfort to you, please know that his time here on earth was very well spent -and that, as his parents, you raised a fine human being.
