Peter Barraza Medeguari, a resident of Carrollton, Texas passed away on October 11, 2024 at the age of 80. Peter was born to Lydia and Pedro Medeguari on November 2, 1943 the first born of eight brothers and one sister in Douglas, Arizona.
He grew up surrounded by a host of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was an excellent student and athlete being the Co-Captain of the football team and President of his Douglas High School class. He attended Cochise College graduating with a Engineering degree. He joined the Navy in 1965 and became a proud member of the MCB 62; United States Naval Mobil Construction Battalion, also known as “The Seebees”. He served two tours in Vietnam from 67-69 in Danang and Dong Ha. He was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Fleet Marine Combat Operations Insignia, Expert Rifleman Award, and was honorably discharged in 1969. He remained in constant contact with his Seebee brothers and always enjoyed their yearly reunions.
Peter had two marriages and three children before finding his way to Dallas in 1983, to start his own business; Dallas Reglazing, in the land of opportunity. Shortly after arriving he met and married the love of his life, and soulmate Shelby. They lived a very active life, and enjoyed dancing, movies, travel, football, weekly card games, and of course entertaining family and friends. Theirs was a true love story only being apart one long weekend the entirety of their marriage, to which he said, “ I will never do that again, everyone was talking about her”! He was a man of great strength, moral character, integrity and loyalty, taking care of his beloved Shel until the end just 51 long days ago.
Peter is survived by Step-daughter, Terri Roberts, of Aubrey, Texas; daughter, Victoria Rios (Carlos), of Flagstaff, Arizona; son, Victor Medeguari, of Douglas, Arizona; son, Peter DeLorean of Douglas, Arizona; grandchildren, Heather Cunningham (Chad), of Celina, Texas; Ava Rios, and Carlos Rios Jr; two great grandsons, Christian and Carson Cunningham; Sister, Brenda Torres (Arturo), Brothers, Tony (MaryEllen), Angel (Linda), Frank (Elsa), and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends, who will dearly miss him and forever cherish his memory.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents Lydia and Pedro Medeguari, Brothers; Rene, Armando, Jose, and Daniel Medeguari, two Grandchildren Ross Dale and Chelsea Davis, and his wife of 39 years Shelby Medeguari.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 8520 E. Main St., Frisco, Texas 75033. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Following the funeral, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview West Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive guests during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 E. Main St., Frisco, Texas 75033.
