Peggy Jean Wardell, of Allen, Texas, passed away December 23, 2012 at the age of 77. She was born August 29, 1935, in Turkey, Arkansas, to Howard and Eugenia (Lickliter) Wingate. On March 17, 1954, Peggy married Gerald Smith Wardell in Elko, Nevada. She was a homemaker, where she took care of her family while her husband was at sea, being a 20 year navel veteran. Peggy was an accomplished artist and master gardener. She was a member of the Church for Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by her children, Bill Wardell and wife Renee of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jon Wardell and wife Cindy of McKinney, Texas, Tim Wardell and wife Donna of Green River, Wyoming, Robert Wardell of Foot Hill Ranch, California, Rosalie Kolan and husband Dale of Robertson, Wyoming; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Wingate of St. George, Utah; sister, Brenda Palmer of Yellville, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Eugenia Wingate and husband, Gerald Smith Wardell.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at George’s Creek Cemetery, in Yellville, Arkansas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
