Peggy Sue Butts

Peggy Sue (Skipworth) Butts of Leonard, Texas, passed away September 7, 2023 at the age of 84. She was born on September 28, 1938 to Hoyt and Grace Skipworth in Whitewright, Texas.  Peggy married the love of her life Bobby Butts on June 26, 1960.

Peggy wanted to be remembered for her life of being a Christian, she wanted everyone to be saved and assured of a place in Heaven.   Peggy told everyone she came across about God’s love and loved everyone she met.  She read through her Bible many, many times and enjoyed watching Bible teachings on television.  She raised four children and was blessed to see all of them saved and baptized.  She knew they would all be in Heaven with her one day. She enjoyed walking all over town and did so for many years.  Being outdoors was her favorite time.  She was a very strong and tough woman her whole life. Peggy loved life but was ready to go to her Heavenly home to reunite with her husband and family members.  Most of all, she was ready to see God face to face. 

Peggy is survived by her son, Richard Butts of Decatur, Texas; daughters, Darlene Lehman of Konawa, Oklahoma and Carolyn Sanders of Leonard, Texas; brother, John Skipworth of Denison, Texas; son in law, Rick Owen of Denison, Texas; grandchildren, Randall Tolbert of Wylie, Texas, Alicia South of Kemp, Oklahoma, Jessica Ford of Colbert, Oklahoma, Brittini Washington of Carrollton, Texas, and Kristen Sanders of Sherman, Texas; 7 great grand children and 1 great great granddaughter; very special neighbor and much loved friend Janna Brewer of Leonard, Texas.

She was preceded in death by both her parents; husband, Bobby Butts; daughter, Elizabeth Kay Owen; grandson, Ross Lee Whitmire; sisters, Pauline Fagan, Mary Owens, Betty Coker; brothers, Jimmy Skipworth, Charles Skipworth, and Billy Skipworth; niece, Vanessa Skipworth.

A family gathering with be held Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street Leonard Texas, 75452.
