Peggy Jean Weygandt of Allen, Texas passed away July 9, 2023 at the age of 86. She was born on July 14, 1936 to Vernon Dravenstott and R. Mabel (Long) Dravenstott in Ashland, Ohio. Peggy moved with her family to Wadsworth, Ohio and was a 1954 graduate of Wadsworth High School. She met her first husband, Donald Bowman when they were young, and they married in 1958. Their first son, David was born in 1959 and in 1961, they welcomed their second son, Dwight. Together the family enjoyed camping and many other outdoor activities. In 1976, Peggy married her second husband, Gerald “Jerry” Weygandt and they became a blended family with his four children and her two sons. She loved going on rides with Jerry on his Goldwing that took them all over the country. Peggy took full time care of Jerry during his last eight years of life until 2012 as he bravely fought with ALS. In her later years, she RV travelled all over the country even as far as Alaska with her travel partner, Gary Marsh. Peggy will be remembered as an outgoing lady. In all her travels, she never met a stranger. She was extremely active in her church, and she held strong personal beliefs. The closest to her on Sunday was always her church home. Peggy met many close traveling friends through her years. It was important to her to keep in touch with them and her Sunday school class from First United Methodist Church in Allen. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
Peggy is survived by her sons, David Bowman and wife, Maureen of Allen, Texas, Dwight Bowman and wife, Connie of Galena, Ohio, Dean Weygandt of Akron, Ohio, Kevin Weygandt of Bradenton, Florida, Greg Weygandt, also of Bradenton, Florida; and Eric Weygandt of Akron, Ohio; granddaughters, Colleen Ferguson, Alannah Gates, and Mackenzie LeForge; grandson, Alex Bowman; great-grandchildren, Zaylee, Archer, Olivia, and Micha; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Bowman; second husband, Gerald Weygandt; and parents, Vernon and R. Mabel Dravenstott.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Peggy will be inurned at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth, Ohio at a later date.
