IN LOVING MEMORY

Peggy Elizabeth Anderson

Aug 06 1930 - Sep 29 2026

Mrs. Peggy Elizabeth Anderson passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born on August 6, 1930, in Bonham, Texas to Russell Cockrill and Vera Lucille (Rike) Cockrill. She was united in marriage to Billy Anderson on October 20, 1949, in Garland, Texas.

Peggy was a very devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a homemaker who only rarely worked outside the home as needed to help support her family. She loved going to church and in her later years enjoyed the teachings of Dr. Charles Stanley. Her interests included word puzzles and trivia. She did crossword puzzles daily for many years and Wheel of Fortune was one of her favorite game shows along with Jeopardy. She enjoyed short stories, especially ones that involved animals and humorous takes on the challenges of daily living. She read Reader’s Digest, Chicken Soup for the Soul books, and she really enjoyed works by Erma Bombeck. She embraced country life, wildlife and flower gardening. She treasured every card, letter, and gift she ever received and would place the name of the giver and a date on the bottom of her collectibles.

She is survived by her children; David Anderson (Lengel), Karen Tingle, Richard Anderson, and Cheryl Anderson (Pam Huffman), her nine grandchildren; Amber Stecher (Matt), Ashley Fry (Garrett), David Anderson II (Lacey), Dorothy Taylor (Craig), Camilla Westhoff (Parker), Neil Anderson, Josh Fern (Cassie Martin), Cari Reeves (Brian), and Jacob Anderson (Lee), her 23 great grandchildren, sister, Pat Brackett, and nephew, Rusty Brackett (Heather).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Anderson, parents, Russell and Lucille Cockrill, granddaughter, April Roper, niece, Lori McCall, and sons in law, Richard Fern, and Joe Tingle.

A visitation will be held at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00-11:00a.m., with the funeral service starting at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at IOOF Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to Rockwall Animal Adoption Center.
