Paul Edward Furstenberg of Plano, Texas passed away October 29, 2021 at the age of 77. He was born on February 28, 1944 to Carl A. Furstenberg and Sheila Jane (Rosskam) Furstenberg in Miami, Florida. Paul was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served from 1961-1965. He worked for Digital Equipment Corporation as a computer support engineer for many years before his retirement. Paul loved sailing especially the Caribbean and Guatemala. He owned a 44’ sailboat named Serenity and for many years loved sailing her on many adventures. Paul was a recovering alcoholic and a longtime member of Acholic Anonymous. He attended AA groups all over the world, but ODAAT was always his home. Paul helped many people on their road to recovery and often opened his home to help them get on their feet. He was sober for the past 41 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his daughters, Alexandra McDonald and husband, Richard of Anna, Texas and Amy Gentile and husband, Michael of Georgetown, Massachusetts; stepchildren, Patricia Griffin and husband, Justin of Cedar Hill, Texas, Adrian Quintanilla and wife, Sarah of Anna, Texas, Timothy Teague and wife, Marcy of Dallas, Texas, and Dustin Teague and wife, Sandy of Schererville, Illinois; grandchildren, Cody, Cameron and wife Bianca, Avery, Aislin, Aiden, Olivia, Sammy, Joey, Austin, Willow, Mikey and wife Amanda, Ryann, Dylan, Hailey and husband Nathan, and Hunter; great-grandchildren on the way, Elena Pauline Furstenberg; sister, Sheila Joan Beyer and husband, Robert of Pennington, New Jersey; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Carl Furstenberg; mother, Sheila Furstenberg; sister, Trudanne Hart; and brother, Carl H. Furstenberg.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Paul will be inurned at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Sunday afternoon, November 7, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
