Paul Benson of Allen, Texas passed away on April 23, 2024 at the age of 84 in McKinney, Texas. He was born to loving parents Herbert Benson and Tillie (Olsen) Benson on August 16, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York.

Paul's early years were shaped in the vibrant streets of Brooklyn and Queens New York. He pursued his education at Valparaiso University in Indiana, where he not only obtained his bachelor’s degree in business, but also encountered the love of his life, Sandra Schwanke. Their bond flourished during their college years, and they married in the state of Wisconsin on December 23, 1961. Post-graduation, Paul embarked on a career journey, initially with W.T. Grant, later transitioning to JC Penney for many years in New York until the company relocated his family to Texas in 1988. It was there that Paul eventually retired, marking the end of a fulfilling professional chapter.

Throughout his life, Paul harbored a passion for collecting baseball cards and stamps, a hobby that began in his childhood. His stamp collection, numbering several thousand, was a testament to his dedication. Among his prized possessions was a signed picture of Babe Ruth dedicated to him. His enthusiasm for collecting, coupled with his fondness for recorded music, led to a vast array of records, CDs, and top-tier audio gear in his possession.

Paul and Sandra's shared love for travel led them on numerous adventures across Europe, with Germany holding a special place in their hearts. They delighted in immersing themselves in the culture, frequently attending Oktoberfest in Munich and exploring the enchanting Christmas markets. Paul's easygoing nature endeared him to all he encountered, his ability to effortlessly engage in conversation leaving a lasting impression. Paul will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Mae Benson of Allen, Texas; sons, Thomas Paul Benson, and wife Dell-Ann of Hailey, Idaho, Kenneth Robert Benson, and wife, Lori of Brush Prairie, Washington, and Richard Scott Benson, and wife Lisa of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Michael, Miranda, Chase, Jett, Colin, Bryce, and Aiden; and other numerous loving family and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents Herbert Benson and Tille (Olsen) Benson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 301 Country Club Rd, McKinney, Texas 75069. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
