IN LOVING MEMORY

Paul Allan Goetz

Oct 02 1942 - Mar 14 2022

Paul Allan Goetz of McKinney, Texas went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2022, at the age of 79. Paul was born on October 2, 1942 to parents Paul Charles Goetz and Mildred Helen (Smith) Goetz in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from Highlands High School and Texas A&M University (Class of ’64), he then began teaching and coaching in Northeast ISD. It was at Roosevelt High School where he met Ann Rush. They were married August 17, 1968 in Groveton, Texas. In the years that followed, Paul received a master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University and began his career as an agent with State Farm Insurance. Upon his retirement 33 years later in 2006, Paul and Ann moved to McKinney where Paul volunteered at Allen Presbyterian Hospital for 10 years.

Paul lived a life of faith and was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He was active in his community, never met a stranger, always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell, was quick to laugh, and adored by all who knew him. Paul had a passion for the game of golf since the age of 10 and enjoyed playing rounds with his lifelong friends, Dickie Wilson, Art Chapa, and Bill McCarthy. In 1976, he made a hole-in-one. In 1990, he and Dickie won the Texas Pro-Am Golf Tournament in San Antonio. Paul also loved Texas A&M University. It was there he met another dear friend, Tom Morgan. Paul was the ever-loyal Aggie fan. Some of his favorite days were the ones he spent in College Station cheering on the Aggies.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joanne Maker. Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ann Goetz of McKinney, Texas; children, Robert Goetz and wife, Pamela, of Glen Allen, Virginia; Amy Lickey and husband, Ron, of Frisco, Texas; grandsons, Parker and Connor Lickey; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, Texas. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
