Patsy Ruth Sturgeon Mayse passed away peacefully in the Lexington Medical Lodge in Farmersville, Texas, at 10:33 a.m. on January 18th, 2023, at the age of 79 years. Her husband, Gene (Les) Mayse, and her grandson, Daniel Wappes, were wonderfully blessed to be by her side when she departed this earth and was taken by the Lord to be with Him into eternity.
Patsy was born in 1943 in Eufaula, Oklahoma, to her father, William Fines Sturgeon, and her mother of part Cherokee descent, Nettie Barrett Sturgeon. She was the youngest and the last surviving sibling of 11 brothers and sisters: Joe Sturgeon, Helen Ester Sturgeon Pope, Horace Sturgeon, Junior Fines Sturgeon, Everett Sturgeon, Hazel Sturgeon Utley, Lois Sturgeon Gould, Lonnie Sturgeon, Bonnie Sturgeon, Nina Faye Sturgeon Cunningham, and Wayne Sturgeon. Patsy, her mother, her father, and all eleven of her brothers and sisters are now together, again, in eternal peace with our Lord God in heaven.
Patsy married Gene Mayse in Leonard, Texas in 1987. She loved her country life in Leonard. Her husband took very good care of her, prepared a very comfortable home for them to live in, loved her, and went to church to worship the Lord with her.
Patsy loved dancing at home with her kids, having fun with them, taking good care of them, laughing with them, and making the best of every moment for them during the difficult times in their lives. She loved the Lord with all her heart and made sure that her children knew Him. Her joyful celebration of eternal life with the angels, with Jesus, and with her family have begun . . . more than likely with dancing, singing, smiling, and praises to the Good Lord!
Patsy’s five children from her first marriage to Marvin E. Brown brought her much joy as she raised them in the church to know God and as she loved them, played with them, and spent good quality time with them.
Patsy will be joyfully remembered by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her husband, and by many others who knew the sweet, God-loving, and wonderful person she was.
Patsy is survived by her husband, Gene Mayse, and his daughter, Leslie Mayse, and by her five children and their spouses: Marvin L. Brown (Estela Brown), Michael E. Brown (Renee Brown), Teresa Ritchie (Chuck Ritchie), Lisa Wappes, and Tamberly Jeanette. Cherished and remembered by her sixteen grandchildren and their spouses: Brandon Vali (Evelyn Vali), Erica Wetterskog (Erik Wetterskog), Marisa Brown, Marco Brown, David Brown, Diane Brown, Jerusha Hull, Joshua Brown, Delaina Brown, Kimra Stevens (Jason Stevens), Sarah Eckard (Josh Eckard), Kaylon Wappes, Daniel Wappes, Carly Greener (Clayton Greener), Sean Stearman, and Tyler Stearman. Cherished and remembered by her eight great grandchildren: Levi Vali, Jadelyn Wetterskog, Elora Wetterskog, Kennadi Stevens, Graham Stevens, Heidi Stevens, Reagan Eckard, and Asher Greener. Cherished and remembered by Marvin E. Brown, Peter and Rie Vali, Ken Wappes, all of the Sturgeon family and relatives, all of the Brown family and relatives, and everyone else who was blessed to be a part of her life.

The family will welcome guests at a visitation from 6-8 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Leonard.
