Patsy Ruth Byrd of Hurst, Texas passed away October 19, 2021 at the age of 90. While she will be dearly missed by her family and friends, Pat would want everyone to share in her joy as she begins her eternal life with Jesus Christ, as her Savior in heaven. Pat was born on August 29, 1931 to James Thomas Gooch and Maynard (Johnson) Gooch in the Winningkoff Community. She grew up in McKinney, Texas. At the age of 19, Pat married Ben M. Byrd, who was in the United States Army on June 7, 1950. After traveling 27 years, they settled in Hurst, Texas. She was a homemaker and volunteer at the local hospital for 25 years. Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
She was a strong Christian and was very active in her church. Pat loved her family dearly and will be deeply missed.
Pat is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ben Byrd of Hurst, Texas; daughters, Linda Wills of North Richland Hills, Texas and Vickie Lynn Neal and husband, Rev. Tony Neal of Mildred, Texas; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a host of other loving family and friends; and a special thank you to her caregiver, Melissa Huerta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings, and son-in-law, Ed Wills.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2021 at Shady Oaks Baptist Church, 1336 Cavender Drive, Hurst, Texas 76053. Rev. Richard Adams will be officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2021 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
