IN LOVING MEMORY

Patsy Lair Covington

Apr 05 1939 - Mar 05 2018

Patsy Lair Covington passed away at home with her family by her side on March 5, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Leland, her brothers, Jack and Tom, and her son David.  She is survived by Bobby, her devoted husband of 60 years, her children Dale, Diana, and Dee Dee, their spouses Kim, Duncan, and Tony, and her 6 grandchildren Kailee, Dacey, Daron, Karlie, Kaden, Jonny, and Daron's husband Nick.

Patsy was born on April 5, 1939 in Anna, Texas.  She met her husband Bobby in 1953 and they were married in 1957.  Bobby was drafted into the Army in 1957, which resulted in them moving to Germany for a short time.  Upon relocation stateside, they settled in the Rowlett and Sachse areas, where Patsy lived until her death. Patsy was an active member of First Rowlett UMC for over 50 years.  She and Bobby were the respected owners of Liberty Grove Grocery for 12 years.  Patsy was also highly respected in real estate where she was not only a successful agent and broker, but also opened her own Better Homes and Garden real estate office in Rowlett.  She was heavily involved in the community as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, the Exchange Club, and Alpha Nu, just to name a few.  She also participated in Boy Scouts and PTA.  Patsy absolutely loved going to the State Fair of Texas with Bobby every year and was an avid traveler, having visited countries all over the world.

Sadly, she contracted breast cancer in 2013 and fought bravely until the end, never complaining or asking “why me?”.  Patsy was highly devoted to her family, whom she loved immensely.  Having overcome poverty growing up, she is a shining example to her children and grandchildren of what you can accomplish with hard work, determination, and passion.  She will be deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2018, at First Rowlett United Methodist Church, 4405 Main St., Rowlett, Texas, 75088.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00p.m., Thursday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
