Patsy Ruth Merrell passed away at home with family after a brief illness at the age of 91 on March 28, 2020, in Kerrville, Texas. She was born in St. Jo, Texas, on October 21, 1928, and later moved to Talco, Texas, and then to Leonard, Texas, with her parents, Pauline Melton Holland and Otto Lee "Bunk" Holland. Patsy graduated from Leonard High School in 1946, and married Billy Lee Merrell of Leonard on June 15, 1951.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Merrell, on May 27, 1983, and sister-in-laws, Jean Merrell Morris and husband Bill Morris, and Audra (Tooter) Merrell Herriage and husband Bobby Herriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Merrell Reesing and husband David Reesing, of Kerrville. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Matt Steger and wife Kerrie of Katy; Chris Steger and wife Cristin of Manvel; Lori Tarbet and husband Jason of Arlington; Eric Reesing and fiancee Shelby of Temple; and Justin Reesing of Dallas. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Tyler Mills, Kaleb Steger, Cameron Steger, Reese Steger, Corbin Steger, Henley Steger, Andy Spake, Adam Spake, Jacob Tarbet, Sarah Tarbet, and Sage Field, as well as one great-great grandchild, Carson McLain. She is also survived by four nephews, Randy Herriage, Robert Herriage and wife Cheryl, Mike Morris, and Steve Morris, and neice, Merrellyn Morris McMillen and husband Scott.
Interment will be at the Leonard Cemetery in Leonard, Texas.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public gatherings at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
