Patricia Ann Herr (Patti) went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2022 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 75. She was born to Robert and Eunice (Laughlin) Fiedler on November 6, 1946 in Salem, Oregon. Patti was raised on a 15 acre farm just outside of Salem along with her older sister, Kathleen. There she attended First Methodist Church and received her high school diploma from North Salem High School.
To help pay for college she worked for an insurance company and then as a tour guide at the Capitol Building in Salem. At Oregon State University she spent two years studying accounting.
Patti and John were married in Salem on November 25, 1967. Jeff was born in Hillsboro, Oregon on July 24, 1969 and Brian followed on March 23, 1972 in Walla Walla, Washington. The family moved to Modesto, California in July 1975 where they spent the next 30 years raising a beautiful family.
During her career she worked at the State Highway Department in Salem where she operated one of the first magnetic tape word processors. When she and John moved to Hillsboro, she worked at the State Welfare Department. Once the boys were old enough, she started at Modesto Junior College, working in the president’s office preparing the payroll until she retired in 1998.
Patti loved crafting: crochet, needle work (embroidery), cross stich, and quilting were her favorites. She made baby blankets, hats, booties, and quilts, giving many away to friends, family, and organizations in need. Patti also enjoyed visiting the ocean, walking on the beach, and looking for agates and shells. Playing games was another joy, such as, Pinochle, Parcheesi, Fast Track, and jigsaw puzzles. She loved to attend Bible studies, going to garage sales, enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, having a clean home, taking care of her family, and helping people in need.
She is survived by her husband, John Herr of McKinney, Texas; son, Jeff Herr and wife, Chalmarie of The Woodlands, Texas; son, Brian Herr and wife, Susie of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Brennen, Kaden, Stephanie, Rebecca, Hannah, Will and Zechariah; great grandchildren, Scarlett, Jacob, and Rosalie; and niece, Jennifer Dulaney and husband, Kurt.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Eunice Fiedler, and her sister, Kathleen Morack.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Crosspoint Church in McKinney, Texas. The service will also be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/c/CrosspointChurchMcKinney. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Hope Women’s Center at (myhope.org) or the Visiting Nurses Association at (vnatoday.org).
