IN LOVING MEMORY

Patricia Ann Hughes

Jul 28 1957 - Feb 23 2007

HUGHES, PATRICIA ANN daughter of Bill and Teddie June Clay was born on July 29, 1957 in the town of McKinney, Texas. She was survived by her father Bill Clay, two sisters Linda Hall and Shirley Bradshaw as well as two brothers Billy Wayne Clay and Charles Clay. Her Brothers and Sisters gave her one niece Heather Bradshaw and seven nephews Billy Hall, Jody Bradshaw, Joshua Clay, Justin Clay, Jacob Clay, Matthew Clay and Kyle Clay. Seven nieces, nine nephews, also survived by her and she had nine great nieces and eight great nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her mother Teddie June Clay, her baby sister Gayla Clay and great niece Halee Bradshaw. Garry and Patricia Hughes were married on August 22, 1972 and were married for 29 years. After a 9-year battle with Interstitial Lung Disease, Patricia passed away after a bright happily filled morning visiting with family on February 23rd, 2007 just shy of her 50 birthday. To those who knew her, the love of her life, her children Gayla and Mickel were by her side at her moment of passing. She was blessed with three beautiful grandchildren the oldest being her grandson Cody Hughes first granddaughter Teddie Hughes and youngest granddaughter Courtnie Hughes. She started her family at a ripe young age of 14 having children at the age of 16. Her first born angel being her daughter Gayla Dawn Hughes, who she named after a beloved sister that passed at birth and her second angel being her son Mickel Hughes. As an inspiration to us all, in 1998 she was diagnosed with the disease and was given 6 months to live. She was not willing not let this disease take her life from her. It was a combination of her determination and the love of her sisters, brothers, family, and friends who assisted her fight in this battle. Ironically there was one common factor, the love for Patricia that brought family together and set off the next 9 years of her life. This extra time allowed her to see her grandson in his sporting events and her oldest grand daughter in her sporting and acting productions and most was recently she was able to go watch her youngest granddaughter perform in her cheerleading events. Her children and grandchildren were usually the topics of her conversations. On September 24, 2006 it was dancing with her daughter Gayla to her favorite song, “In my daughters eyes” that brought new excitement in Patricia’s life for her son-in-law, Dean Mills, had married her daughter. In addition to this, she was the biggest fan of seeing her daughter sing and fulfill her musical dreams. Patricia was a peaceful spirit. She loved the simple things in life, gardening and watching her flowers bloom. She enjoyed sitting outside and watching the red birds and hummingbirds who filled her yard and danced outside her windows. The family would like to give thanks to all the supporters, prayer groups, and those who helped her to live her life to the fullest. A very special thanks to Beta the caregiver and most of all friend of Patricia Hughes. We would also like to acknowledge the doctor who took the chance to step out on a limb, to give her the opportunity of more life, for we are all eternally grateful to you and your staff. Patricia is the most positive reinforcement in our lives for she has showed us that no matter what life becomes you savor every breath. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2007 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Monday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation Monday evening beginning at 7 PM.
