Patricia Erger of McKinney, Texas passed away March 16, 2018 at the age of 83. She was born June 26, 1934 to Morgan Daniel Shelton and Helen Catherine (Fox) Shelton in Troup, Texas and raised in Denison, Texas. Patricia was a very passionate woman. She taught kindergarten in the lowest socio-economic neighborhoods and would walk into the housing projects and ask parents if it was okay to keep their child after school for one and one half hours because learning is about time and repetition and they needed more practice. Many a year every single one of her students could read through a first grade reader, could add and subtract to the number ten and knew all of the colors. Patricia would be so happy and most proud to be remembered for this. If a homeless person asked her for food she would always feed them. She was an engaging storyteller and at times she would laugh with such abandonment that it was if there was an invisible person shaking her by the rib cage. Patricia led a long and full life and praise God she died in her sleep. We will miss her.
She is survived by her son, Robert J. Erger II and wife Gail of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Jeanne Donaldson and husband Francisco of San Antonio, Texas; son, Michael Erger of Denison, Texas and wife Inar of Sao Paulo, Brazil; grandchildren, Rob Erger and wife Erin of Spring, Texas, James Erger and wife Samantha of Waco, Texas, and Genevieve Donaldson of Chatham Hall, Virginia; and great-grandson, Malachi James Erger.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Katherine Standerfer and Ann Schindler.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
“Death ends a life but it does not end a relationship which struggles on in the mind of the survivor toward some type of resolution.”
