IN LOVING MEMORY

Patricia Clements Brown

Feb 16 1945 - Jan 16 2023

Patricia Clements Brown passed away on January 16, 2023 in Allen, Texas at the age of 77. She was born to Charner Cornett and Laura Catherine (Catoe) Clements on February 16, 1945 in Mobile, Alabama.

Patricia grew up in the community of Pleasant Home Alabama. Growing up in a rural setting, she learned to fish, hunt, and farm, but she had a strong desire to excel academically and took great pride in the fact she never received a grade less than an A. She continued her educational pursuits at Montevallo College, Auburn, USM, UNO, and Texas Woman’s University; along the way, she earned a Bachelors and Masters in Dietetics and a Masters in Business Administration.  In addition to her focus on education, she also found a young man in Pleasant Home and fell in love; in 1965, Patricia married David McBride Brown. Together, they grew their family with the birth of their daughter, Laurie, and later when their son, Jason, joined the family.

Although being a mother was always her primary concern, she also worked fulltime, primarily in the healthcare industry. She worked as a dietician in Fort Worth, Texas and Green Bay, Wisconsin, before the family moved to Slidell, Louisiana.  She continued work as a dietitian at Slidell Memorial Hospital, until she became Food Service Director at Mercy hospital in New Orleans. She continued her career as a hospital administrator at both Mercy and Memorial Baptist hospitals in New Orleans, as well as Methodist Medical Center in Dallas. In 2000, she began her dream job, as a grandmother.  Although she continued those paying jobs for another seven years, her joy and fulfillment came from providing for her grandchildren.

Patricia’s devotion to her grandchildren was extraordinary; she made them breakfast and baked cookies for them every day. She was always by their side, cheering for them in sporting events, helping with their studies and homework, encouraging them to work hard and always do their best.

Through the years, Patricia enjoyed their multitude of different musical instrument lessons. During these lessons, as the music started, so did Patricia’s feet. She loved dancing to all types of music and would often try to coax her grandchildren to join in. Because she always enjoyed being active and loved nurturing, she was also a passionate gardener. People would often stop at her house to tell her how much they enjoyed looking at the beautifully colored array of flowers in her yard. Patricia never got enough of her family and grandchildren.

Patricia will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie A. Brown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; son, Jason M. Brown and wife, Sherry (Englande) of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, and Julianna of Allen, Texas; sister, Lyndia Trainer of Allen, Texas; niece, Erin Trainer of Richardson, Texas, and grandnieces and nephew, Anna, Laura and Lee of Richardson, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Patricia’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/patricia-clements-brown
