Mr. Owen Bruce, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Pilot, Friend. He was born November 6, 1923, in Pleasant Plains, AR. He made his flight to Heaven on December 24, 2006, at 7:00 a.m. He was met at Heaven's gate by his parents, Ernest and Fannie Bruce, sister, Jane Elam and a host of friends and relatives. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vivian Bruce; two daughters, Carol and husband Gary Myers and Nancy Bruce; grandson, Daniel Myers; and his faithful lapdog, Sophie. He was retired from IBM-Control Data Corporation. He was a fifty year member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 168. He was also a member of the North Texas Corvair Association. Foremost, he was a Christian. He served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland for over 37 years. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, TX. A service celebrating his life will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2006 at Lavon Drive Baptist Church, 1520 Lavon Drive, Garland, TX 75040. Interment to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Beginner Department, Attn: Mrs. Jeri Leetch, Lavon Drive Baptist Church.
