Orval Lemuel Lewis

Orval Lemuel Lewis, 90, formerly of Jumbo, Oklahoma passed away March 5, 2019, in McKinney, Texas.

He lived in McKinney for the last two and a half years. Orval was born September 4, 1928, to William Lewis and Mary (Seals) Lewis in Jumbo, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army in Korea, surveying in front of artillery. Orval married Dorothy Catherene Rember on October 2, 1954. They moved to Jumbo to build a home and there they shared over 60 years together. Orval worked at a feed store in Antlers and the Antlers and McAlester Stockyards both in Oklahoma.  He raised cattle and had a remarkable memory for the calves weight and date of birth. Orval wrote his own backwards phone directory, it was sorted by numbers. He also kept his Jumbo Cemetery book updated.  

Orval is survived by his wife, Catherene Lewis, currently of McKinney, Texas; sons, Wayne (Sue) of Copperas Cove, Texas and Benny (Julia) of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Martin “Marty” Lewis (Jennifer) of Copperas Cove, Texas; great-grandchildren, Martin Jr., Joshua, and Hunter; sister, Lillie Bell Jordan and husband Leonard of Wichita, Kansas; brother, William Lewis and wife Sara, of Andover, Kansas; and several nieces, nephews, and their descendants.  

Orval was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Minnie Henderson, Pearl Shropshir and Martha Lewis; and brother, George Lewis.  

Services will be held at Daisy Baptist Church and the interment is to follow at Jumbo Cemetery.  Arrangements will be held under the direction of Serenity Funeral Home in Antlers, Oklahoma.
