Mrs. Opal Faye Combest, age 78, Van Alstyne, Texas passed away May 23, 2008. She was born June 13, 1929, in Princeton, Texas to Carl and Alice Jordan. On May 25, 1945, she married J.L. Combest in Princeton, Texas. Mrs. Combest worked as a waitress and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her daughters, Shelia Stratton, Vickie Rollins and husband, Richard all of Van Alstyne, and Gayle Welborn and husband, Phillip of Anna, Texas; grandchildren, Rhonda Stratton-George of McKinney, Texas, Stacey Reagan of Melissa, Texas, Jon Nix of Katy, Texas, Angie Welborn of Austin, Texas, Lori Baker of Van Alstyne, and Kylie Trojack of Bells, Texas; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Case of Tawakoni, Texas, Janell Judd of Culleoka, and Louise Lewis of Mineola. Her husband, J.L. Combest, grandson, Ray Stratton and sister, Bobbie Bachlor preceded her in death. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
