O.P. Abraham (Thankachen), a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Murphy, Texas, at the age of 88. Born on October 6, 1936, in India to his beloved parents, P. Kuchukuju and P. Mariyama, Thankachen lived a life dedicated to God, family, and serving others.
He proudly served in the Armed Forces Medical Corps of the Indian Army for 13 years before continuing his career as a lab manager at Prince Ali Khan Hospital in Bombay, India, where he worked diligently for 43 years. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Mariamma Cherian, in Kerala, India, building a life together rooted in faith and love.
Throughout his life, he was deeply involved in missionary and volunteer work, always seeking ways to serve others. He was an active and dedicated member of Immanuel Mar Thoma Church in Borivili before he and his wife immigrated to the United States, settling near Dallas, Texas, in 2021. Thankachen spent his last few years as a proud member of Sehion Mar Thoma Church, where his presence, wisdom, and kindness will be greatly missed.
Thankachen is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Mariamma; his children, Reny, Rony, and Reena; their spouses, Elizabeth, Shaila, and Johnson; and his six treasured grandchildren, Jessica, Hannah, Joshua, Jonathan, Abel, and Rebecca. He is also survived by his sister, numerous cousins, a large extended family, and a circle of dear friends who will remember him with love and gratitude.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, who now welcome him into eternal rest.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Sehion Mar Thoma Church, 3760 14th St, Plano, Texas 75074. Interment will follow at Rolling Oaks Cemetery, 400 Freeport Parkway, Coppell, Texas 75019.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Sehion Mar Thoma Church.
O.P. Abraham’s legacy of faith, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
