Oneth Leslie "Jonesy" Jones

Oneth Leslie “Jonesy” Jones, age 82, passed away August 20, 2022.  Jonesy was born August 31, 1939, in Prosper, Texas, to Leslie David and Allegra (O’Dell) Jones.  He graduated from Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Texas.  Jonesy was a miner in hard rock and coal mines.  He later became a Federal Mine Special Investigator with the Mine Safety and Health Administration, a position from which he retired.  He was a life-long member of the Masonic Lodge Caliente, Nevada, lodge number 38.  Jonesy loved to fish and hunt.  He also loved vegetable gardening and raised all kinds of farm animals including pigs, turkeys, chickens, and milk cows.  Jonesy worked at the Nevada Test Site mine assisting with atomic bomb testing.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Janice Jones; son, Norman Jones and wife, Marivella of Nevada; daughter, Tareva Palmer and husband, Jeff of West Virginia; brothers, Jimmy David Jones of Saint Jo, Texas and Daniel L. Jones and wife, Vicki of Douglasville, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Seaburn Jones.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2022, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow, 109 S. Oklahoma St., Celina, Texas, 75009.  Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina.  The family will receive friends during a visitation at 12:00 Noon, Friday at the funeral home.
