Ollie Elbert Porter, 85, of McKinney, Texas passed away April 25, 2007 in Bonham, Texas. He was born January 2, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to
T. C.and Zelma Porter. He was an U.S. Army veteran and Baptist deacon.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Allen. He loved gardening, gospel music and his family very much. A simple Christian man who was well liked by all who knew him. He worked for Amoco Oil Co. in Odessa, Texas for 36 years, retiring in 1984. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marie Petty Porter. Survived by his wife of 10 years, Ora B.; a daughter, Phyllis Porter of Princeton, TX; a son, Lawrence Porter and wife, Jan of McKinney; granddaughters, Christi Wiley of Denton, Allison Garcia of Ft. Worth, and Kathryn Porter of Austin, and great-granddaughters, Bailey and Tori Garcia. He is also survived by two brothers, Travis Porter and wife, Ruthie of Sun City, AZ, and Floyd Porter and wife, Faith of Jonesboro, Arkansas and two sisters, Vera Alcorn of Longview, Texas and Dollie Lanphier and husband, Larry of Longview, Texas. Services will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, with interment to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m., Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
