IN LOVING MEMORY

Olga Teer

Nov 07 1931 - Feb 16 2020

Olga Milatovich Teer of Dallas, Texas passed away February 16, 2020 at the age of 88.  She was born on November 7, 1931 to Philip Milatovich and Pauline Kovacevich in Russellton, Pennsylvania.  She was the proud daughter of Serbian immigrants who came to the United States via Ellis Island in the 1920s.  She began her career working for the federal government at the Army Corps of Engineers, which gave her the opportunity to live and work in Japan for a year in the 1950s.  She made her way to San Antonio, where she met and married Charles Borden Teer in 1956.  They relocated to Dallas and settled in the Lakewood area.

After leaving the government to raise her four children, she began working for the Dallas ISD from 1980 through 2000.  She worked at various schools in the East Dallas area, but particularly loved working at the schools her children attended: Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson.  After retiring, she began the job she loved most…caring for her grandchildren.  Besides spending time with her children and grandchildren, Olga enjoyed taking long walks in Lakewood, feeding many stray cats along the way.  She also enjoyed eating out at local restaurants, with her favorite being Highland Park Cafeteria.

Olga is survived by her children, Martha Evelyn Teer of Richardson, Texas, Charles F. Teer and wife, Elizabeth of Euless, Texas, Louise Avery of Allen, Texas and Michelle Andelman and husband David of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Andrew, Meredith, Amanda, Michael, Alexandria and Natasha as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Teer; parents, Philip and Pauline Milatovich; sister Melva Nicholson and brothers, Ray and Louis Milatovich.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. A private burial will take place at DFW National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association or the SPCA of Texas in her name.
