Norman Edward "Woody" Taliaferro

Norman Edward “Woody” Taliaferro, Sr., age 61, of McKinney, Texas, passed away August 4, 2009, in McKinney. Woody was born September 6, 1947 in Houston, Texas, to Myron and Adele (Wogan) Taliaferro. He married Denise Bourgeois on December 6, 1980 in Houston, Texas. Woody graduated from Dallas Jesuit in 1965, where he was an All-American basketball player. He was a graduate and played basketball at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Woody was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Denise Taliaferro; daughters, Shannon McCaroll and her husband, Zac of Austin, Texas, Allyson Taliaferro, also of Austin, Corinne Kornegay and her husband, Kevin, currently living in American Samoa, and Caitlyn Taliaferro of McKinney, Texas; sons, Norman Taliaferro, Jr. of Austin, Texas and Elliott Taliaferro of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Noah Kornegay, Ava Lucile McCarroll, Maggie McCarroll, and the much anticipated arrival of twin grandsons; brothers, Myron (Mike) Taliaferro and wife, Kathy, of Dallas, Texas, Ron Taliaferro, also of Dallas, and Jerry Taliaferro and his wife, Beth, of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Adele (Daydee) Visinsky and her husband, John of Dallas, Texas and Bonnie Pronsky and her husband, John of New Braunsfels, Texas; and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Myron and Adele Taliaferro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 10, 2009, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas with Father Don Zeiler and co-celebrant, Abbott Jerome Kodell of Subiaco Abbey and Academy officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 P.M., Sunday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with a Rosary starting at 7:00 P. M. at the funeral home. An entombment will be at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Forest Park Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer, Houston, Texas, 77077.
