IN LOVING MEMORY

Norma Janine Baker

Jan 30 1944 - Oct 22 2021

Norma Janine Baker of Plano, Texas passed away on October 22, 2021 at the age of 77. She was born on January 30, 1944 to Lowell and Wanda Lacina in Abilene, Texas.  Norma was raised on a farm in Gilman Township of Iowa along with her siblings Dennis, Corita, and Lola. She graduated high school in 1961.  Shortly after graduation she attended community college and Airline stewardess school. Norma married Charles Karns in 1967 in Marshalltown, Iowa.  In 1968, They moved to Dallas Texas. In 1974, she gave birth to her only son, Jason Karns. The family moved to Plano in 1974 which is where Norma lived for the rest of her life.

In her spare time, she loved to bake, take cruises, go to the movies (she proudly brought her own popcorn). Norma also very much enjoyed spending time with friends and family, which was probably her favorite thing on earth to do.  Especially when it involved Mexican food!  She owned and operated her own cleaning service for decades until she retired at the age of 70. In retirement, Norma enjoyed living in the Plaza at Chase Oaks with people that were close in her age.

She made many lifelong bonds while living there. The community there was a blessing.  Norma also loved her dog, Katie, very much and was her close companions for 10 years.

She is survived by her son, Jason Karns; daughter-in-law, Alison Karns; sister, Lola Fadiga and husband, Jack; nieces Trina, Starla, Ronda and Lori; and Nancy, David and Brad Duncan.
