Nora Jane Leone of McKinney, Texas passed away on December 6, 2021 at the age of 80. She was born on February 24, 1941 to Roy Albert and Shirley Avis (Ayers) Gloss in Dunkirk, New York. Nora attended the University of New York at Alfred and married Vincent Leone on September 11, 1965 in Fredonia, New York. 

Nora was a published writer and author. An avid reader, Nora also taught literacy to children and adults. She cherished her family and friends, and she will be remembered fondly as generous, loyal, and loving. Nora and Vincent have lived in many states and traveled to many countries. Married for 56 years, they were each other’s companion, friend, and supporter.

Nora is survived by her husband, Vincent Leone; daughters, Brenda Shipley and husband, Todd of Rowlett, Texas and Kara Lynn Leone of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Anna Leone Shipley and Christina Nicole Shipley of Rowlett, Texas; brother, David Gloss and wife, Jean of Rochester, New York; Vincent’s brother, Frank Leone, Sr., and wife Claudia of Portland, New York; niece, Emily Anne Leone of Buffalo, New York; nephew, Frank Leone, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Memphis, Tennessee; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The service will be livestreamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/nora-leone for those who cannot attend. Interment will take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with family at a later date.

Nora was a passionate supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and donations may be given in her honor.
