IN LOVING MEMORY

Nora Marie Cooper

Apr 26 1928 - Sep 05 2021

Nora Marie Capps Cooper passed away on September 5, 2021 at the age of 93. She was born on April 26, 1928 in Celina, Texas to John Wilson and Mary Edna Baldwin Capps. Marie was a graduate of SMU, returning to an interrupted quest for a degree after both of her children were of school age, where she attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Drama. She then attained a Master’s Degree in English at Texas Women’s University. She taught school at Atwell Junior High School for several years then at Skyline High School for 18 years. During the years that James was pastor of the First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff, Marie taught in the youth department and directed the church’s drama presentations. She excelled in everything she did. As a wife, a pastor’s wife (a job unto itself), a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, an aunt, a teacher, a friend … everything she did, she did with grace, kindness, and intelligence.

She is survived by her son, Jason Quicksilver of Everett, Washington; her daughter, Carolyn Ann Cooper of Plano, Texas; her granddaughter, Jessica Marie Morris and husband, Adam of Dallas, Texas; great granddaughter, Eleanor Ann Morris; brother, Wallace Glen Capps; along with her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, JoAnn Capps Wells, and her beloved husband, James Logan Cooper.

Per Marie’s request, there will be a graveside service only with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations to the Alzheimer’s Organization (act.alz.org). This dreadful disease robbed Marie of her memory and it would be greatly appreciated to have donations to find a cure.
