Nona Lynn Martin Babb

Nona Lynn Martin Babb, age 76, of Garland, Texas, passed away on April 28, 2017.  She was born on July 17, 1940 in Enterprise, Oklahoma to William Amos “Buck” Martin and Oleda Edith (Underwood) Martin.  Nona grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Poteau High School in 1957, where she played saxophone in the band and played basketball; she was a member of FHA and was a class officer in 1955-1956.  Nona attended Barbizon Business College in Dallas, Texas.  She worked as a Senior Executive Secretary for over thirty years at Collins Radio/Rockwell/Alcatel.  Nona enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts and working crossword puzzles; most of all, Nona enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda Kenyon and husband Ross of McKinney, Texas, Rita Parker and husband Steve of Garland, Texas, Randall Babb also of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Kerry Rountree and wife Antonella of Prosper, Texas, Christie Rountree Schoonover of McKinney, Texas, Joshua Rountree and wife Leigh of Allen, Texas, Jeremy Rountree and wife Michelle of Little Elm, Texas, Stephen Parker and wife Sterling of Allen, Texas and Justin Parker of Garland, Texas; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Caroline “Sissy” Wood and husband Jim of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Kaye Barousse of Church Point, Louisiana, Terri Martin Mussett and husband Don of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Donna Straughn and husband Wyatt of Stigler, Oklahoma; a host of other family and friends.

Nona is preceded in death by her parents, William Amos “Buck” and Oleda Edith Martin.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening, May 4, 2017 at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Mountain Home Cemetery in Stigler, Oklahoma.
