Nola Barrett-Martin

Nola Jo Barrett-Martin, age 72, of McKinney, Texas, was called home on May 11, 2017.  Nola was born February 1, 1945, in Purdy, Virginia, to Jimmy and Irene (Barrett) Palmer.  She married Lt. Col. Ronald Stanley Martin, (Ret.) on November 11, 2004, in Garland, Texas.  Nola was the family matriarch and always put her family first.  She loved to help everyone and was respected by all who knew her.  Nola had an angelic spirit, was beautiful and dignified yet humble, full of life, and selfless.  She had a heart of gold and she never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Ronald Stanley Martin, (Ret.) of McKinney, Texas; son, Michael Parham and wife, Diana Preston of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughters, Tina Hawthorn of Garland, Texas and Heidi Awan and husband, Amanat Awan of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Titiania Fuller of North Carolina, Darrell Hawthorn, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Travis Pete, Alexander Awan, and Jazmine Awan, all of Allen, Texas, Alex Martin, Jack Martin, and William Martin all of Austin, Texas, and Maceo Awan of Allen, Texas; siblings, Howard Barrett and wife, Rosalind of Virginia, Lydia Powers of Oklahoma, Gloria Jones and husband, John of St. Louis, Missouri, George Molson, Jr. and wife, Brendella of Florida, Cynthia Molson of Florida, Rita Dyson and husband, Frank of North Carolina, Dreama Molson of Oklahoma, and Gregory Taylor and fiancée, Anita Payne; and step-father, George Molson, Sr.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.  A reception will follow at the funeral home.
