Our beloved Nina Ruth McGill, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024 at the age of 94.
Nina was a resident of Princeton. She was born on April 6, 1930 in Smith County to Elmer and Velia Byrum. She married Roy Lee McGill on April 11, 1953 and raised four wonderful sons. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton.
Nina had a true talent for both sewing and quilt making. She was also a skilled gardener, harvesting plentiful vegetables and growing the most beautiful flowers including her bluebonnets and roses. She loved her family with all her heart and loved to play games with all her grandchildren, whether it be a game of baseball or chicken foot she was always there. There was never a doubt that Nina had a love for her family. Her irresistible giggle brought joy to everyone around her.
She had a gentle soul, wise heart, and sweet spirit. Her family is blessed with cherished memories that will live on in their hearts forever.
Nina is survived by her sons, Roy E. McGill and wife, Emma of Celina, Texas, H. Neal McGill and wife, Janice of Princeton, Texas, and Thomas E. McGill and wife, Cindy of Celeste, Texas; and leaves behind her greatest treasures, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy McGill; son, Michael McGill; parents, Elmer and Velia Byrum; sisters, Corene Cain, Nancy Reel, and Mattie Faye Harris; and brothers; Emory and Dean Byrum
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Following the service, there will be a committal service at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Meador Cemetery, 10398 County Road 2121, Tyler, Texas 75707 for Nina's final resting place beside her husband of 48 years, Roy Lee McGill.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
