Nicholas William Smith, 20, of Dallas, TX passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2017. He was born in Chicago, IL on November 8, 1996. Nic attended Trinity Christian Academy, and graduated from Plano West Senior High School in 2015. He served as president of the Lonestar chapter of the Young Men’s Service League and was also a passionate member of DECA, a business leadership organization for high school students. Nic attended Indiana University as a Business major and was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity. He was an outgoing, gregarious young man with a big heart. He enjoyed his job serving others and deeply loved spending time with his family and friends. Nic is survived by his parents, Suzanne and George Holland of Dallas, TX and Doug Smith of Tulsa, OK; his brother Stuart Smith, stepbrother Alexander Holland, and stepsisters Allison Ray, Erika Jones, and Andrea Humphries; his grandparents Bryan and Donna Whitworth, Gerre and Doug Schwert, Bill and Patsy Smith, and Larry List. Nic is also survived by a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Visitation will be at Parkway Hills Baptist Church, Plano, TX (2700 Dallas Parkway, Plano, 75093) on Sunday, January 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The memorial service will also take place at Parkway Hills Baptist Church on Monday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nic’s memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
