Nelva Jeanette “Jan” Vandeventer, age 81, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on January 26, 2019, in Plano, Texas. She was surrounded by family and close friends. Jan was born on December 28, 1937, to Lois (Jordan) and Roscoe Hyatt Vandeventer in Frisco, Texas.
Jan made her working career with Goodson Civil Engineering company in Dallas, Texas. After retirement, she worked at the Republican Headquarters of Dallas County as an employee and later as a volunteer.
Jan is survived by her siblings, Larkin Vandeventer and his wife, Billy of Frisco, Texas, Ruth Cohen and husband Martin of Rockwall, Texas, and Peggy Zellars and husband Leon of Frisco, Texas; eight nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews and one great great niece; and her long time friend, Jack Van Kirk and his family of Redwood City, California.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Hyatt Vandeventer and Lois Jordan Vandeventer, and sister Betty Wyatt.
A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 7659 Preston Road, Frisco, Texas 75034, on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 3:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor Matthew Reynolds, with a visitation from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
