Nellie Beatrice Boyd

September 19, 1932 - March 31, 2014

Nellie Beatrice Boyd nee Becker, of Allen, Texas, passed away on March 31, 2014. She was born on September 19, 1932, in Johannesburg, South Africa, to Christian and Margaret Beatrice (Varrie) Becker. Nell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend; as well as a life partner to Victor Alan Duffus Boyd. Nell was an eternal nurse and mother, who mostly put others before herself, but still managed to live her life to the fullest. We shall remember her as an active person who pioneered recreational scuba diving in the early 50's, practiced and taught yoga and immersed herself in every activity that she took on, including lovingly dedicating herself to her husband and to raising two sons. We thank her for her love and trust, for educating us for life and her selflessness. May you rest now, peacefully!

She is survived by her loving sons, Alan Boyd of Allen, Texas, Wayne Boyd and wife Lindsay of Gladstone, Australia; grandchildren, Christine Boyd, Michael Boyd and Joanne Boyd.

Nell is preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Margaret Becker; and husband, Victor Alan Duffus Boyd.

Momma, you truly were my mom-in-love. A best friend, a trusted confidant, a fun companion, a person who always gave from the heart. Your passion of nursing never left you. You never held back and did it all with a tremendous sense of humour. I still hear your laughter. You are deeply missed and much loved. RIP sweet darling. Ingrid Landman, September 17, 2015 My Darling Nellie, I miss you every time I try Skyping my family in the USA: you were always available for a chat. Story of our relationship .. long, intelligent conversations and willing advice received. My babies owed their well-being and maybe even their lives to your reliable support, when my own family were too far away. I have wonderful memories going back to my school days of you and Vic and later including Alan and Wayne. Precious Lady, rest in well deseved peace. Hazel Marion (Duffus) Sydie, May 25, 2014 Nell was a dear friend and 'Gran' to Craig and Steve.
