Nancy Steele Gilley, 80, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on April 28, 2022, after a long bout with Alzheimers. Nancy was born on January 16, 1942, to parents Dorothy Kale and William Ernest Steele, Jr. in Houston, Texas.
Her family moved to Ft. Worth where she attended and graduated from Pascal High School. Nancy attended TCU and was a Zeta Tau Alpha. She married Bob Gilley Jr. in 1960. They moved to Yokosuka, Japan, where they lived on the Naval Base.
Nancy moved to Richardson with her husband and two children. She was always involved in the children’s schools. As her kids grew older, she started her professional career. Nancy worked in medical sales, owned a wall design company, owned a western clothing store and finally managed the gift shop at Cook Children’s Hospital.
She loved to cook, garden and was so creative with anything she put her mind to. She was a loving mom and grandmother.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Bill Steele Jr., and her grandson, Bennett Barnhill.
She is survived by her children, Kristi Barnhill and her husband, Marc, and Robert Gilley; her grandchildren, Hayley and Tate Barnhill; her brother, Bill Steele III and his wife, Sug; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
