After completing her education at Northern Illinois University, Nancy wedded 2nd Lt. Patrick Casey Hawes (USNA), a graduate from the US Naval Academy. She spent her professional career in Real Estate in Northern Virginia and Dallas, Texas.

Latimer; her cousin Colette (Latimer) Rinn; her brother-in-law Michael Hawes and his wife Charlotte Marye Hawes; and her sister-in-law Judith Anne (Hawes) Klemperer and her husband Leslie Klemperer, JD.
