Nancy Maria McFadden, age 81, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on July 23, 2018. She was born on June 17, 1937, to Martha Rendah (Coats) and Robert Anthony Galvan in Detroit, Michigan. Nancy was a Registered Nurse, and she worked in hospitals from Detroit, Michigan to Jackson, Mississippi and in Galveston, Fort Worth and Austin, Texas. She also worked as a Registered Nurse in Saudi Arabia in one of the King Faisal hospitals in Riyadh, and then returned to the United States to obtain her Masters of Nursing Administration at the University of Texas San Antonio. She returned to Saudi Arabia to work as a Nursing Administrator for Saudi Aramco, the official Saudi Arabian oil company, in its compound located in Dhahran. During her administration, she was in charge of the nursing staff at the hospitals and surrounding clinics and was one of the nursing recruiters sent around the world to recruit staff for the Armaco/Dhahran hospitals and clinics. She studied and played classical piano, loved the opera, was an insatiable reader, and a passionate dog lover/owner.
Nancy is survived by her four children, Noel Scott Smith of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Dean Arthur Smith of Brainerd, Minnesota, Dana Lynn Carpp of Frisco, Texas, Lori Shay Capelo of Pflugerville, Texas, step-daughter Jo Bethwaite and step-son Ian McFadden, both of England; grandchildren, Bethany Smith, Hannah Robinson, Tali Smith, Jedidiah Smith, Samuel Smith, Hope Smith, Emily Anna Carpp, Joshua Michael Carpp, Timothy Carpp, Jennifer Nicole Randleman, Lisa Ann Lira, Joseph Michael Capelo, and step-granddaughter Freya Bethwaite; great-grandchildren, Savannah Robinson, Henry Robinson, Freyja Robinson, Taylor Reese Randleman, Robert Antonio Lira and Ava Alicia Lira. Nancy is also survived by her older sister, Doris Marroquin Terry of Austin, Texas, and her nieces and nephews, Luis Marroquin, Jr., Mark Marroquin, Eric Marroquin, Robert Marroquin, Timothy Marroquin, Kathy Casey, Michael Marroquin, Maureen Connors, Monique Nabholz, Roxanne David and Gregory Marroquin and her many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Tague McFadden, step-son Neil McFadden, her parents, Rendah and Robert Galvan, her younger brother, Anthony Robert Galvan, and her nephews Paul Marroquin and Sean Thomas Marroquin.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Nancy was a strong survivor of two cancers. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society.
