Nancy June Lackey Qualls was born to Clarence Osben and Ruby Marie Alsip Lackey on August 23, 1944 in Muncie, Indiana. On October 23rd, 2018, she passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Ector, Texas.
As a child, she was surrounded by love, laughter and frequent competitive games of scrabble, as one of 6 children. In 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Norman “Tommy” Qualls. During their 56-year marriage, they showed Christ’s love by raising their own boys to love and fear God, as well as opening their home to other young men. When she wasn’t cooking for growing boys, she enjoyed painting, gardening and enjoying a cup of coffee on her front porch swing. Later in life, Tommy and June enjoyed travelling together and spending time with their kids and grandkids. She lived a life of service to God and to others. She was a faithful preacher’s wife, devoted member of the Church of Christ and a loving mother and Mamaw.
She is survived by husband, Tommy N. Qualls of Ector, Texas; sons, Ken and wife Melanie Qualls of Burleson; Marlin Eugene and wife Loredana Qualls of New Orleans, Louisiana; Russ and wife Marge Qualls of Lucas; Ron and wife Clarica Baum of Inman, South Carolina; sisters, Iris Moore of Kountze; Mary and husband Larry Rice of Livingston; Jane and husband Clifton Carter of Vidor; brothers, David and wife Sue Lackey of Buna; Randy and wife Joy Lackey of West Columbia; grandchildren, Jessica Qualls and Kristina and husband Steffan Schmidt, J.T. and Keith Qualls, Dimitri Tsigourlas, Lisa Timmoneri and Nina June Qualls, Tyler and Emma Baum.
