Nancy Dawn (McWha) Stewart, age 90, of The Colony, Texas, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018. She was born September 3, 1928, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Mary Jane (Gray) and William J. McWha. The family moved to Tishomingo, Oklahoma, where she grew up. Nancy married Edwin R. Stewart and they had one son and two daughters. She and her husband had their own concessions business at The State Fair of Texas for over 30 years. They made their home in Little Elm, Texas. She was an artist, an entrepreneur, and a lover of life, fun and laughter.
Nancy leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Laurie Dawn O’Casey and her husband, Kevin, of The Colony, Texas; and Judy Jane Smithart of Lewisville, Texas; her son, Joe Stewart of New Braunfels, Texas; Marco Rocha of The Colony, Texas; her grandchildren, Jimmy Joe Smithart, Joshua R. Smithart, Karrie Dawn O’Casey, Kade O’Casey, Shannon Cathy, and Jacob Stewart; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Birdsell, Serenity Smithart, Ethan Smithart, Elijah Smithart, Emilee Smithart, Marlee Grace Cathy, Lane Ryder Cathy and Rylie Dawn Noble; and her great, great-grandchild, Amelia (Birdsell) Coy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Jane and William J. McWha Sr.; her husband, Edwin R. Stewart; and her brother, William J. McWha Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held at Button Memorial United Methodist Church, 101 West Eldorado Pkwy., Little Elm, Texas, on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 2:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Jay Cousino. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation beginning at noon at the church. Interment follows at Little Elm Cemetery.
