Myrtle Sylvia Bloom

Myrtle Sylvia Bloom of Frisco, Texas passed away November 28, 2018 at the age of 96.  She was born on March 20, 1922 to Charles and Alice Young in Mustang, Oklahoma. Myrtle was a 1939 graduate of Mustang High School in Mustang, Oklahoma.  In 1940, she moved to Oklahoma City and attended beauty college and later worked as a beautician.   In 1942, as America prepared for war, Myrtle signed up to train as a riveter but was subsequently assigned to the fulfillment department at Tinker Air Force Base.  After the war, she worked as a secretary in the personnel department at Tinker. Myrtle met Andy Bloom at Tinker Air Force Base and they married on November 7, 1947 in Oklahoma City.  They were happily married for 53 years.  After the birth of their first child, she devoted her life to raising their family.  Myrtle was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family.  She will be missed more deeply than words can express.

Myrtle is survived by her two children:  son, James Bloom and wife, Diana of Oak Point, Texas; daughter, Andrea Lee and husband, Jim of Frisco, Texas; three granddaughters, Brooke Hendry and husband, Matt of Frisco, Texas, Erin Kendall and husband, Sam of Frisco, Texas, Lydia Marcum and husband, Connor of Little Elm, Texas; grandson, Nick Lee and wife, Karmine of Prosper, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Abigail Lee,  Harper Hendry, Hudson Lee, Reagan Marcum and Wyatt Kendall; sister, Leona Wilkes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Helen Young of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Doris Young of Mustang, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andy Bloom; parents, Charles and Alice Young; brothers, Frank Young, Harvey Young, Ray Young, Bob Young and Don Young; sister, Geneva (Bowlware) Terrell.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, December 3, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.  Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.  Family and friends are also invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Sunday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
