Myron Eugene Meador

Myron Eugene Meador of Plano, Texas passed away on November 16, 2019 at the age of 88.  He was born on November 30, 1930 to Lester Eugene and Mattie A. Sparkman Meador in Bethany, Oklahoma.  Myron grew up in Oklahoma, lived for a short time in California, returned to the Sooner state and married Gladys Dell Green on December 1, 1949 in Bethany. Myron proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.  Myron continued his education and obtained his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University.  He retired from the City of Dallas as Director of Automotive Services and also retired from Collin College in 2001 where he performed computer and software maintenance. Myron could fix or repair anything and enjoyed working on cars. He especially loved Ford Mustangs, of which he owned several through the years. He earned the designation of Certified Master Mechanic in the 1980s. Myron served on the church board for many years and sang bass in the choir, often filling in as choir director. He was of the Nazarene and later the Baptist faith.

Myron is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dell Meador of Plano, Texas; daughters, Jan Brasher and husband, Tim of Scottsdale, Arizona and Julie Scherer and husband, Jeff of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Chanel Mayorga and husband, Joey, Kelsey McAnally and husband, Brad, Cody Scherer and wife, Kelsie and Nathan Brasher and wife, Karaline; great-grandchildren, Mateo Mayorga, Troy Mayorga and Leo Brasher; and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Grace Sample of Roswell, N.M. and Eloise Charboneau of San Diego, Calif.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
