LuCretia "Cretia" Barch

Nov 05 1942 - Jun 10 2023

It is with heavy hearts we share with you that Mynta LuCretia “Cretia” Barch, age 80, of McKinney, Texas, peacefully slipped the bonds of earth to enter her eternal home on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Cretia was born to proud first-time parents, Clayton and Evelyn (Kemp) Bourland, on Thursday, November 5, 1942, in Dumas, Texas. Her brother, Clay Don and sister, Denease “Neasie” later joined her. Cretia gave birth to Johnny and Monette Shanks during a marriage to her first love. Later in life she fell in love with and married David Barch of Princeton, Texas on June 22, 1985. They lived their “happily ever after” until his death on February 20, 2023.

Cretia found her passion in the field of law early in her career and over the years worked as a legal assistant to the late attorneys: James Caton, Bill Vitz, and George Roland.

In 2017 she retired after completing 22 years of service in Collin County Probate Court 1. Over her career she assisted a number Collin County attorneys and judges.

Cretia was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to countless others. She was a voracious reader, and enjoyed listening to music, dancing, gardening, and traveling to the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, and husband.

She is survived by brother, Don Bourland of McKinney, wife Brenda; son, Johnny Shanks of McKinney, wife Suzie; daughter, Monette McCollom of Fairview, husband Kenny; grandsons, Justin Black of McKinney, Jerrod Black of McKinney, Cody McCollom of Princeton, Jesse McCollom of Fairview, and Cole McCollom of Fairview; nephews Bryan Bourland of Anna, wife Marti; Scott Bourland of Anna; niece Taunya Rother of Houston, husband Jason; in addition to numerous other family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the caregivers with Avalon Memory Care Home-Meadow Ranch; the RNs, aids, and Chaplain with Three Oaks Hospice, as well as the Staff with TJM for their respect, care, and support of Cretia as well as the family during this time.
