Madison White Randolph Jr. “Dub” “Poppa” “Sarge” (1935 – 2026)
Madison White Randolph Jr. devoted husband, proud father, strong Christian, dedicated police officer, died in his home in Josephine Tx, surrounded by family on May 22, 2026.
He was born in Tarzan Tx. on March 25, 1935, to Lenora and Madison “Matt” Randolph, the fourth of five children. Madison was educated in many schools as a child because his father worked in construction and the family moved a lot. He was on the high school rifle team when they defeated the army sharpshooter team in competition! He graduated from Forest Avenue Highschool, Dallas Tx. After Highschool, he worked for the City of Dallas water department to get the service hours required for police force eligibility. When the police chief showed up asking for good candidates for the force, Madison was an easy pick and soon started the police academy. He worked as an officer for the City of Dallas until retirement after “27 years, 6 months and 3 days”, not that he was counting. During his tenure as an officer, he rose to the rank of sergeant and was beloved by others on the department. Years after retirement, many would still call him when in need of guidance. He was only retired a few years before he started his second career as a security guard for Maxis Energy Corp. Once again, he worked this job until retirement.
Madison was loving husband to Ernestine Randolph whom he loved until the day he died. He was a devoted father to Cherie Randolph, Cindy Randolph, Charles Randolph and later Julianna Hulsey, who dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. Among them were: “Judge a person by their actions, not their looks” and “Don’t pick on dumb animals. They don’t understand what is going on – sometimes that includes your friends.”
Madison was an active member of the Farmersville Primitive Baptist Church, serving as deacon for decades. He would never miss a service nor a workday, where he taught the youth valuable skills such as repairing a roof after a storm with gentleness and wit. He always had a servant’s heart, willing to help others in any way he can. At the age of 70 years, he overcame his fear of ladders to help a friend build a booth to work out of.
He will always be remembered for his gentle manner, his wit, and his service to the community. In any serious situation, he would listen until you were done, collect his
thoughts for a few seconds, and reply with something profound. He always saw things from a different perspective and enjoyed puns and speaking words backwards. Many remember him introducing himself as “Nos-i-dom Hip-lad-nor", which of course is Madison Randolph backwards!
Madison was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ernestine Randolph, brother Roy Randolph, sister Jene Jeffers, sister June Williams, sister Betty Firor, his son Tracy Randolph, beloved sister-in-law Sue Dixon and grandson Christopher Hulsey. He is survived by his daughter Cherie Randolph, daughter Cindy Randolph, son Charles Randolph, daughter Julianna Hulsey, son-in-law Mike Hulsey, granddaughter Alana McCurley and husband Scott Ashton, grandson Simon McCurley and wife Pasha Cerullo, grandson Madison W.
