Douglas Eugene Mitchell of Leonard, Texas passed away on December 21, 2022, at the age of 60. He was born on March 27, 1962, to Elmer Eugene Mitchell and Nelda (Klatt) Mitchell in Dallas, Texas.
To his friends, Douglas was known as Double D. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Douglas was the jack of all trades, working as an electrician to also putting Christmas lights on houses.
Douglas will be remembered by his son, Brandon Lee Mitchell and wife, Chelsea, of Leonard, Texas; grandchildren, Tessa and Braelynn Mitchell; mother, Nelda Mitchell of Leonard, Texas; sisters, Beverly Shopher and husband, Larry, of Denison, Texas, Cynthia Kohler and husband, Chuck, of Leonard, Texas, and Monica Sorrells of Leonard, Texas; blood brother, Paul Serur of Port Aransas, Texas; friend, Willie VanHook of Tennessee; Aunt Pat Hudson of Athens, Texas (who shared the same birthday); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded by his father, Elmer Eugene Mitchell.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street, Leonard, TX 75452.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to donate towards funeral expenses for Douglas.
