Morris Lee Nelms

Morris Lee Nelms, age 83, of Plano, Texas, passed away on May 8, 2017.  He was born April 3, 1934, in Krebs, Oklahoma to Morris Shannon and Ethel Amy (McKay) Nelms.  Morris grew up in Krebs, Oklahoma where he graduated from McAlester High School in 1952.  After high school he moved to California and worked for Alcoa Aluminum; he later worked for Haliburton in North Dakota.  Morris enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 1954, where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.  On January 19, 1955, he married Delores Elaine Giacomo, in Krebs, Oklahoma.  After he served in the military, Morris worked for Sears for thirty five years, as a group manager, overseeing the men’s clothing department for thirty seven stores.  He enjoyed working in the yard, golfing, woodworking, fishing, hunting, refereeing football for several years, watching OU football and various other sports.  He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and volunteering at his grandson’s elementary school.

 

He is survived by his wife, Delores Nelms of Plano, Texas; daughters, Terry Lea Nelms Bozica and husband Matthew, Tina Elaine Nelms Coleman and husband Lynn all of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Andrew Egan Bozica of Plano, Texas, Cloe Rae Wilson and husband Andrew of Wylie, Texas; siblings, Marjorie Rose Berry and husband Henry of Angleton, Texas, Virginia Ann Clayton and husband Robbie of Byers, Texas, Murl Anthony Nelms and wife Suzanne of Byers, Texas; sisters-in-law, Sharon Nelms of Round Rock, Texas and Dora Lea Brewer of McAlester, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

 

Morris is preceded in death by his parents Morris Shannon and Ethel Amy McKay Nelms; and brother, Michael Nelms.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2700 Roundrock Trail, Plano, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation being held Wednesday evening, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
