Minnie Fae Griffin

Minnie Fae Griffin of McKinney, Texas passed away on November 10, 2022 at the age of 101.  Minnie Fae was born on January 22, 1921 to Martin Paul Fisher “Tobe” Enloe and Ida Estelle Rutledge Enloe east of McKinney, Texas. On January 23, 1948, she married Wiley Edward Griffin in McKinney, and they celebrated 48 years together until his death. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Jane McAnally and husband Charles of McKinney; her son, Wiley Paul Griffin and wife Connie of Melissa; her son Ben Griffin and wife Lisa of McKinney; and her daughter, Jan Faye Lafon and husband, Rickie of McKinney. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Jonathan McAnally and wife, Tori; Elizabeth McAnally and fiancé, Aaron Weiss; David McAnally and wife, Andrea; Matthew McAnally and wife, Stefan; Stephen McAnally and wife, Cynthia; Justin Griffin and wife, Mallory; Jarred Griffin and wife, Brittni; Cory Cranford and wife, Stacy; Cody Griffin; Amy Jo Wilson and husband, Drew; Caleb Lafon and wife, Kara; and Leah Lafon. She had 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Joyce Wuertz and husband, Gary, her brother-in-law, Earl Ray Griffin and wife, Susie of Allen, Texas, and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wiley, parents, aunt, Dove Enloe who took care of her from the age of 5, brother, Hester Enloe, sister, Ida Mae Cheek, and great-granddaughter, Caroline Kate McAnally.

As a child, Minnie Fae attended the one-room Enloe school. Later she attended Texas State Teacher College (now the University of North Texas), Southern Methodist University, and Texas Women’s University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in education and her Master of Science in special education. She undertook some doctoral work as well. She was an educator in Graham ISD and McKinney ISD for over 25 years and continued working as a substitute teacher until she was 85. She also served as a school supervisor in the County Superintendent’s Office. She received her mid-management certification for serving as principal of schools. She was a member of the Gamma Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society of key women teachers, for 77 years. She was also a member of Business and Professional Women. She worked as a secretary for Continental Oil Company (Conoco). She was also a pilot and was the second woman to fly solo at the first McKinney Airport.

Minnie Fae was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at many churches in Collin County over the years. She was the church pianist at East Fork Baptist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church. She loved gospel music and was an active participant in the Collin County Second Sunday Singing. She was on the Board of Directors at Wilson Chapel and helped raise funds for the expenses of the cemetery.

Minnie Fae loved making her home warm and inviting for all. Her family considers her to be one of the best cooks. She enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, and she also made many quilts and crafts. She cared deeply for her community and provided food, health care, and love for so many people.

Her family extends their deepest gratitude to Misty Humphries and the other hospice workers and support team at Reliant at Home.

A visitation will be held at Turrentine Jackson Morrow in Allen, Texas on Saturday afternoon, November 12, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
