Mildred Young Dunn was born on March 28, 1933 in Terry County, Texas to Hubert L Young and Ethel Mullins Young. She passed away surrounded by family on March 11, 2023 in Denison, Texas at the age of 89 years.

Mildred married the love of her life, Lawrence B. Dunn on September 16, 1950 in Meadow, Texas.  With their only daughter, Rhonda, they moved to Balch Springs, Texas in the late 1960s.  They joined the Hickory Tree Baptist Church and quickly made many life-long friends.  Ready to get back to rural life, Mildred and family moved to their home in Trenton, Texas in 1979.

Mildred’s greatest joy in life was living in service of others. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trenton.  She was known as the Tamale Lady to many as she owned and operated Old Fashioned Tamales in Trenton for over 40 years.  She was Aunt Mimmie to her beloved nieces and nephews.  She was Granny to all.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Martin and husband Bobby; grandchildren, Shawn Martin and wife Jenny, Crystal Martin, Jeremy Martin and wife Brittney, all of Trenton; great- grandchildren, Amber, Kayti, Sarah McTee and husband Blayne, Connor, Sadie, Keller; sisters-in-law, Mozelle Young and Donna Young. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, J.W. Young, Lee Young, Warren Young, Eddie Young; sister, Vera.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held 11AM Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas. Brother Johnnie Jones will officiate. Mildred will be inurned next her husband, Lawrence at a later date.
